Question: Does the medication "Soma" have any relation to the "Soma" in Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World?

Did the actual "Soma" pills exist when Huxley wrote the book, or did the word come from his imagination? Do the Soma pills we have now, have anything to do with the Soma he mentions in the book?
