I took a blood test, and my blood was almost red-black?!

Question: I took a blood test, and my blood was almost red-black?
I mean today was my first time taking a blood test in my life, so I don't know what is normal. But I saw almost red black blood in the tube that they filled up. Is that normal? Or should it be like clear red?

Another question, they tried taking blood from my right arm but the blood didn't come out. So they tried on my left arm and managed to get it. But now my right arm feels numb, is that normal too?

Thanks in advance.

Answers:

It's very normal. I had 5 tubes taken out of me recently and they all looked like that. Almost every tube of blood I've ever seen, people's blood was almost black. So no worries. :) And yes, arms always feel numb afterward, eat red meat tonight or for lunch to build your blood back up and/or something sugary, you're fine. :)

Venous blood (which is the blood they take for samples) can be a very dark red color. Arterial blood is bright red.
