History of infected piercings, would you reccomend I get another?!

Question: History of infected piercings, would you reccomend I get another?
Both my nose and belly button piercings got so infected I decided to take them out. Howere my ear lobes and my upper ear where absoloutley fine.

I did clean both my piercings as directed but my general standard of cleanliness, as in how often I showered or changed my bedding, left something to be desired in the past.

I am much cleaner nowadays and am thinking of getting my lip pierced, what do you think?

Answers:

If you cleaned the piercing enough it shouldn't have gotten infected. I'm pretty sure not having good hygiene doesn't have an effect on the healing of a piercing. It only matters how clean the piercing is. You should have cleaned it up to 3 times a day with salt water. What did you clean with?

Nose and belly button take a long time to heal. Lip heals much faster and is easy to clean, just swish with salt water. Go for it

Hi,

Yes, you do have to be really careful with piercings to keep them clean.......

Also, keep in mind it is best to have surgical steel for any rings/studs you have as studs that have zinc in can cause an allergic reaction.. as did my belly button piercing and in the end the local surgery kept having to clean and dress it for me. Not very pleasant!. Also, go to a reputable place to have it done, look for a certificate on the wall. You should be fine, I am 55 and have piercings and tattoos. Best of luck . Marion

My source is self-experience.

give it a go, just clean it more than you are advised and be aware of your general cleanliness.
I've had problems with infected piercings in the past and this is what I did last time and it worked out fine.
as long as you didn't have an allergic reaction in the past and mistook it for infection you should be ok.

maybe go to a different shop than last time, could have been something to do with their cleanliness.

I would recommend getting anti-biotics from your doctor. Just in case it does get infected.

I think you answered your own question.

No don't be so stupid

I wouldn't get anymore if I were u
