I cut my hand on a beer bottle, what do I do?!

Question: I cut my hand on a beer bottle, what do I do?
I cut the palm of my hand on a beer bottle last night and it still hurts and stings (although I did wash it with soap). Is there anything wrong with it, like could it be infected or anything?

Answers:

If the bleeding stopped, that seems like the important thing. Cuts I've had, have hurt for white a while, especially when they are on a part of the body that bends and gets used, (hands, knees, etc).

From a First Aid perspective, keep it clean and try not to use that part of your hand too roughly so it doesn't open back up. Keep the wound closed and covered with a (sterile?) dressing. Wound wraps & non-stick pads are hella cheap from convenience stores.

If the redness spreads out from the wound, it starts to smell, you can see your veins going up your arm turn a color or it those have been signs of infection that I've seen.

If the wound is not severe etc, there are topical things to make it heal faster, (triple antibiotic ointment,) and take away some of the pain. Just be sure to read all the info on the box, etc.

If you have any doubt, just go to your doctor, the hospital, or one of those urgent-care places.

EDIT: Also, try ordering beer in pint glasses in the future. ;)

I get cuts sometimes and I'm still alive.

Wash it again, maybe use a disinfectant. See if it's swollen or festering some time of liquid.
The cut if new so it may hurt and sting for a while, depending how fast you heal.
If it still bothers you, go to a doctor.
