Question: Penicillin injections, are they necessary?
We moved to Eastern Europe recently and it seems that over here it's very widespread that for any sickness almost you hospitalize the child for penicillin injections. I have never heard of this in Canada.
Can anyone tell me what's with this injections fad over here and what its alternative is in North America? I sure hope to never end up having my children on needles or hospitalized!

It may be that they have had a lot of trouble with various bacterial infections - tuberculosis comes to mind - and they are trying to make sure there are no more epidemics.
