Lack of motivation; sign of depression?!

Question: Lack of motivation; sign of depression?
Im in my 2nd year of University. In grade 11 I woke up one day and my lifelong passion for basketball just went away. I played one year of university basketball to try and see if the passion came back. Howcome it never did? Along with that, I lost passion for so many other things. I just started seeing how their was no point to life. I started seeing things in a whole different perspective, and all I wanted to do was not try hard at anything anymore. It's been really difficult for me to try and get motivated now...I just don't see the point why I would. Am i depressed?

You may be mildly depressed. It's bad that it affects all of your aims, at least from what you're saying. You could go see a doctor, you could even take something to help out, but it's you and only you who's able to change anything, antidepressants are merely helpers (if they coincide with good things coming your way they'll be most effective, of course). Let me tell you though: nobody is *healthy*, that's just a current fad that's being sold to all. If you look thoroughly you'll always find something "wrong" (notice the brackets). It's related to the current tendency to sum everything up in numbers - totally subjective under a mask of being objective. The world isn't particularly perfect, sure. On the other hand, the world is near perfect. Where am I getting at? It's all in the eyes of the viewer. You probably never will regain that youthful joy that you seem to have lost. But you may simply accept things and enjoy what you can. And never give up in case yuou have aims (of course, everything is a load of work in ways and won't dare say nothing comes for free but you have to be grateful whan something comes for free. Just take it as it comes. And remember that it's all up to you, no one will be able to help someone who doesn't help him/herself. Change your attitudes. Take antidepressants for a while if you must. But it's all in you. Wishing you the best of lucks.

EDIT: And forget about internet medical advice. It's only spam. (this was because there was an advert posted before my answer, naturally).
