What can I do about being so tired all the time?!

Question: What can I do about being so tired all the time?
I always try to get enough sleep, but somedays I just can't. However, even on the days where I get more than adequate sleep (for example, 12 hours of sleep like I got today), I get super exhausted around 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Then, after that, it's like I'm wide awake and can't sleep at all.

I have a lot to get done and it's so hard to get anything done when I'm forcing myself to stay awake constantly. How do I fix this, and why does this happen?

Answers:

There can be a lot of reasons, and you may really need to see a doctor. It is possibly some type of sleep disorder where you may be asleep, but your body is not really resting. This can be a result of stress, pain, trouble breathing, etc. Hormones can also play a role in this.

A sleep-study could possibly reveal the problem. Sometimes the answer is simple, like avoiding caffeine late in the evening, doing something restful before bedtime, only using your bedroom for sleeping, getting a different mattress and other common-sense ideas. Sometimes the answer isn't so simple. You may need a machine to help you breathe better at night, for instance.

Tiredness can be the result of many of issues, from thyroid problems or lupus to sugar imbalances. Only a doctor can tell you. Perhaps most mysterious of all is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, where people feel exhausted (like you're coming down with a virus) most of the time and can't find the reason for it.

I hope this helps.

You should only get 8-10 hours of sleep. If you get more, like 12 hours, then you get exhausted faster because too much sleep won't make you want to get up and be productive. You need to find how many hours of sleep is good for you. Some people only like to have 8 hours and others need 10, it all depends on you. Also, i recommend always eating breakfast and healthy fulfilling meals to keep you going. Also you can try things like 5-hour energy or those kinds of energy drinks

Eat more lean and red meats. Get out in the sun more often if you don't already. Exercise more often to get the blood flowing and keep the erythropoietin active!
