Do lysine tablets upset your stomach?!

Question: Do lysine tablets upset your stomach?
I have taken 6 lysine tablets today and my stomach is in shambles... this seems to happen every time I take them, but I'm not sure if I'm just imagining a link between the two things. Does this happen to anyone else?

Lysine side effects are not very common and animal studies into these supplements report that taking too much lysine can cause gallstones and an increase in cholesterol levels.

Lysine research also showed that people taking more than 15 grams of lysine per day reported lysine side effects such as abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Please ask your doctor or even pharmacist about that. It's best not to take any supplements until talking with a licensed medical professional namely a physician. I take lysine capsules (but for me, only once a day) as it's supposed to help with lessening the chance of getting certain viruses including a recurrence of herpes (however, I thankfully do NOT have herpes myself) though I don't believe that there is any factual evidence of that. Perhaps you're taking too many tablets, the tablet-form may be too harsh for your stomach or that you should not be taking them at all :) Please do discuss the issue with your doctor.
