It would be stupid to think that it's imposable for some thing to go wrong that would cause you to die. However it's unlikely that any thing will go wrong. I'd say you have 98-99% chance of living.
But still one of my friend's mom die a few weeks ago because some surgeon messed up a procedure to remove a kidney stone.

There is a chance of death in any type of surgery. According to the National Kidney Foundation,
"for living kidney donors, the risk of death is about 0.06% (about 1 death for every 1,700 procedures)."

One good thing about transplants - they are done at very good hospitals with excellent staff. I had a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2005. You are a great, lifesaving friend, and it is normal to have concerns prior to any type of surgery.

It is VERY UNCOMMON to die during surgery! I work in an operating room that does thousands of surgeries/year and deaths are few and far between. There are always risks with any surgery however, and those should be discussed with your physician. You are doing a great thing for your friend! I hope everything goes well for both of you.

most likely not. during this day in agetechnology is advanced, that you can survive a heart transplant. there is nothing to worry about, everything will be fine and you have 2 kidneys, not just one. You are honestly a great person and very admirable, there needs to be more people like you in this world

You could, It is always dangerous when going under anesthesia and anything can happen while under the knife. With that said, surgeons perform surgery many times everyday and most all come out perfect, im sure you will be fine.

50/50 chance.

there is always a chance but I highly doubt you will. Its great what you're doing though :) God bless
