Color synesthesia question?!

Question: Color synesthesia question?
I'm just wondering, with color synesthesia, do you actually see the color in front of you every time, or sometimes if someone says "love" can the synesthesia person just think of purple, but not necessarily see it in front of them?

What I'm really asking this for is I'm wondering if I have the emotion to color form. I don't see the color, but if you say the following emotions, I will instantly think of the color I put with it:

Anger--red
Laughter--a summery orange
Disgusted--a dark, kind of construction orange
Guilt--lavender
Happiness--light yellow
Anxiety--Sparkles, like silver with tiny bits of every color in it and the specks catch the light and seem to shimmer. Know what I mean? Hope so...I sometimes actually see these "sparkles" flying around if I get anxious.

I assumed this was normal for everybody, but now that I have another form of synesthesia, I'm not so sure...

Answers:

There are two types of synesthesia: projected and associated. If you have projected synesthesia, you see the colors in your field of vision. If you have associated synesthesia, you see the colors in your mind's eye. Projected synesthesia is what you're most likely to hear or read about, but associated synesthesia is actually much more common. Both types are equally valid. It sounds like you have associated emotion -> color synesthesia.

I have synesthesia
