Yes it can come back if you are constipated and/or passing large stools. I have an anal fissure currently, and yes it's a pain in the butt! So the best thing to do is to is to take in more fiber (makes you poop and relieves your bottom) and drink plenty and plenty of water (makes poop soft). If you avoid have bowel movement, the stool will just become harder and firmer (making your fissure worse) than if you go everyday. My doctor suggested pear and prune juice because they are high in fiber.

I am also taking this wonderful medication called Clearlax. (Similar to Miralax with a different name. Both are laxatives.) Once I take it, my stool becomes so soft in just about an hour. I no longer have to worry about constipation or hard stools. My doctor prescribed this, so ask yours about it. I guarantee it will work wonders.

The downside to this medication is that if used for a long period of time, your bowel system will think that it doesn't need to work as hard to pass stools. So if you stop using the medication, your body will have a harder time passing stools than ever, as if your body has become "addicted."

Anyway, back to your question. If you feel the pain in your anal area, quickly start consuming more fiber and water before your fissure reoccurs! Those take forever to heal. If you are still uncertain, don't be afraid to ask your doctor again.

Hope all goes well!

Yeah , it can. Because the cause of Fissure is constipation , if constipation is not taken care of then fissure will come back again. Its rarely we go for operation because a very good ointment "Nitrogesic" is available to heal most fissures , only when we fail with this then we do surgery . So , can try this along with take care of constipation. Pain goes on the first day itself , but complete healing takes 4 to 6 weeks .
