Can drinking too much green tea be a bad thing?!

Question: Can drinking too much green tea be a bad thing?
I have a sore throat with a stuffy nose but I want to get better by tomorrow so I can go to my friend's house to watch the Superbowl (:D). I heard that drinking tea is good for you when you are sick. So if I had like 4 or 5 cups of green tea today would that be bad? I want to get better as fast as possible :)

No green tea is very good for you. Go ahead and drink up.

No, Green Tea is really good for you and a powerful antioxidant. Green Tea is great when you are sick because it can boost your immune system, which helps your body fight off sickness and colds. Drinking plenty of liquids is very important and also try a Chinese cure for your sore throat which is hot water mixed with grated ginger and honey.

It won't do any more for your sore throat and to aid recovery than any other tea or drink.
If you have too much the caffeine could make you feel a bit jittery. The amount to cause that is variable.
Try taking an analgesic like tylenol or ibuprofen.
And for the stuffiness an antihistamine (take pharmacist's advice, some make people drowsy)
There are also lozenges (called Tyrozetrs in UK) that have a small amount of anaesthetic in them. Pharmacy again!

NO....Drinking green tea is a GOOD thing because it contains lots of antioxidants that protect your immune system and make you feel better soon.

YES.....Only when drinking TOO much green tea over an EXTENSIVE period of time; it may cause side effects due to the caffeine content. Some of the side effects are: insomnia (unable to fall asleep), restlessness, anxiety, irritability, upset stomach (gas), nausea, headaches (from dehydration) and a loss of appetite.

Tips to prevent getting any side effects:

- Use green tea in moderate amounts.
- Brew between 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit (just below boiling point).
- Avoid making your cup of green tea too strong; a strong cup contains more caffeine.
- Avoid drinking green tea for at least 2 hours after taking medications.
