why did i faint/pass out?!

Question: Why did i faint/pass out?
yesterday, i didn't eat all day in an attempt to lose weight. my diet for the past 4 months has been very small, like i'll constantly skip meals, or eat very little. anyways, just for reference, two days ago (thursday), i only ate a little rice and chicken for dinner and nothing else all day. yesterday (friday), i didn't eat anything all day. i had one little sip of chicken broth. i exercised yesterday for a half hour. i went to bed, feeling super tierd. i woke up a couple times throughout the night feeling hot but i blamed it on the 3+ blankets i had on my bed. i woke up again at 4:15, and i was very hungry so i broke down and went into my kitchen to eat some applesauce. just as i was getting a spoon out of the drawer, i started feeling very nauseous and hot. i just thought it was because i hadn't eaten in 30 hours, so i tried to take one bite, and just as i put the one spoonful of applesauce in my mouth, i started to feel very, very weak. then my eyes went black. everything happened so fast i didn't know what was going on. i heard myself fall on the kitchen table and from there i don't remember anything. next thing i know, i'm consious again. i didn't know where i was, so i called for my parents, calling, "help... help... help..." calmly, for some odd reason. it felt like a dream. they pulled me off the ground. appartently while i was unconsious i went into my living room and fell, which was weird because when i blacked out, i was in the kitchen. from there, i ate a banana and went back to bed.

is my fainting just because of my lack of eating? or is it something more? please help.

oh and by the way, im 5'5", weigh 102 lbs., 13 years old, i get heart palpitations sometimes and i'm constantly cold.

I had a similar occurence about three weeks ago! It turns out mine was sinus/tinnitus/vertigo related. Your situation may not have been quite like that but I was astounded that I had this passing out (not entirely out but almost), falling to the floor in my bathroom never ever having anything like that to have ever happened before. I'm now researching into this to see if I can get to the bottom of it. My family physician diagnosed the vertigo angle but I'm not entirely convinced that is it. I do think it is ear, nose related! The morning after this happened when I awoke up until about noon of that day I vomited about a half dozen times!

Very extensive internet research but I didn't save the addresses!

You're constantly cold and feel wobbly because you're undernurished. Dieting like that can lead to your death (and I'm not trying to scare you off or something, or maybe I am- anyway, it's the truth).

Also, dieting like this will only cause you to gain a lot more weight afterwards- your body goes in to a state of shock and will accumulate every single calorie you intake after you finish dieting like this.

So what to do?
consult a GP and a dietitian, and involve your parents in your eating habits. I don't think you should diet at all by the stats you gave, but nevertheless- if you exercise and don't provide your body the substances it needs, you'll continue passing out, feeling cold, getting shivers, having hot flashes etc, until you cause yourself permanent damage. You're depriving your brain the materials it needs to sustain the basic functions of your body and that's why it happens to you. Please stop behaving like this, and get help.

Good luck.

I'm a nurse.

Under eating has undoubtedly caused all your health problems.

Clinically you are probably about 10 lbs underweight. Underweight people feel the cold much more than people of normal weight due to insufficient meat (insulation) on their bones.

Please note that under eating can, to some extent, stunt your height growth.
