I need to go to my doctor, but my mum can't know?!

Question: I need to go to my doctor, but my mum can't know?
I think I have Schizophrenia. I am only 14 but I hear voices and they yell at me and tell me to cut myself. I was told by my friend to go to the doctor. I think I should go, but I don't want my mum finding out in case it's nothing. Is there any way for me to go alone?

Answers:

Sure there is. You are already 14 aren't you? I'm sure they won't find it weird that you are without a guardian. In fact it's great for you to take the initiative to get help yourself. But maybe you can look up some trustworthy specialists near you and call them to ask for further details. If anyone should know better; its them :D

Best of luck! Hope you get better soon : D

you are still a minor and a doctor can not treat you with out your parent's consent. besides this how would pay for the visit or the meds he may prescribe for you? you need to tell your mom what is going on with you, and if you listen to those voices and cut yourself you will be in even worse straights.

surely she is your advocate and supporter . you are her child she loves and she needs to know asa
this is serious. you need her love and comfort. and she needs to know what is happening to you ao ahe can help you. go talk to her right now.

i am a mom

There is no way for you to go alone because it is not free. You will have to provide information that you might not have. Write your mom a note if you dont feel comfortable talking about it. This is very serious. If you need more help please email me.

Well maybe, ask your friend to take you or a different relative and explain the situation and if they would kindly not tell your mom "If the doctor says it's nothing."

You need to tell your mother...that is pretty serious stuff. She's not going to get mad at you for taking care of yourself and being honest with her.

It's not nothing. Tell your mom.
