Step mom thinks I'm anemic, could I be?!

Question: Step mom thinks I'm anemic, could I be?
She always tells me I'm pale. My hands and feet sometimes get really cold for no reason. I have really terrible dizzy spells. They've been getting worse. These past few weeks, every single time I get up, even from sitting down, I get so dizzy- everything gets blotchy and then I black out. I've had to sit down at basketball practice because of it. And this past week, I've had two really bad ones. I got up from my desk in my room, and I fell (didn't hit my head)- I was just trying to sit down but I got so dizzy and weak I couldn't control myself, and I just fell. Everything was black and I couldn't breath. Then I smelled something/tasted something weird... And I started shaking uncontrollably... My upper body did, anyway, but my legs were stiff. The other time, I ran into my bathroom door, because usually it's open and even though I couldn't see I trusted myself, haha... Then I fell on the tile. o.O I don't eat dark meat because I don't like it. I'm VERY tired all of the time but I find it hard to sleep sometimes. During the week I can't fall asleep until midnight, and then getting up early is hard. But on the weekends, I'll sleep from 10 at night until 10 in the morning. I'm sleepy, weak, and I'm always pale and stuff. :/

What's the deal?

It to me does sound as though you could be anemic, but I would definitely make an appt. with your doctor a simple blood test would tell you so very much and that is what you need to know Claire. You said yourself you hadn't had any blood work done since you were six, so it is high time you do it just to be sure of what is going on with you. It may even tell something to do with your dizzy spells, so go and get this done for your own sake and peace of mind, ok?? Hope ya get to feeling better sweets.

TLDR, but, this sounds like a classic case of anemia. Take an iron supplement daily, and you should show improvements in your general health.

Sounds like anemia to me. I'd suggest you go to the doctor and get tested. Your doctor will probably give you some kind of iron supplement.

I use to have anemia get checked out but u can also get supplements over the counter at cvs

It could be anemia or maybe diabetes. You should probably talk to a doctor.

The way to find out is through a trip to the doctor for an exam.
