The secret is to not stress about falling asleep. If it happens, it happens. If it don't, it don't. The less an insomniacs mind is focused on sleep, the easier it becomes. If not, there is some delicious herb out there.

Try Valerian root. Some studies have suggested that the root of valerian (Valeriana officinalis) helps with the onset of sleep and with sleep maintenance. However, more research is needed before a final conclusion can be made about the safety and effectiveness of valerian for insomnia. Valerian root is found where the vitamin section is at any pharmacy. It is safe and it helps you relax and go to zzzzzzzzzzsleep. Good Night...

You need something that supplies the cells of your body with the nutrition that allows the muscles of your body to relax. Further support for your body and mind, making it easier to become calmer and quiet your mind, and drift off into a more relaxed sleep.
