Is it selective hearing?!

Question: Is it selective hearing?
I have a hearing problem, more like a listening problem that since I was a little girl my parents noticed that I just can't hear somethings. I've noticed that too that I will try so hard to pay attention to something but even though I hear it, whatever is said just won't register in my mind. They have done hearing tests and I can hear very well but my listening is off. My stepmom says that I have selective hearing but selective hearing is when you choose not to listen to something. For me, I could be concentrating my hardest to listen to what someone is saying but it won't register to me what they are saying sometimes just fly over my head. Is it still selective hearing?

Hi,

I suggest you seek medical help as there could be a deeper problem, besides just hearing.

I am not being sarcastic in saying that, but am merely suggesting.

Thank You.

you can have a form of dyslexia, an auditory processing delay. look it up on the web, I found it quite easily with a google search.

More likely you have some sort of auditory processing problem. Ask your stepmom to find you someone who can help with that. You can learn to do better with help.

I'd talk to a doctor. It could be anything from an attention problem to a tumor.
