I need to get some sleep. Help?!

Question: I need to get some sleep. Help?
I am twelve years old and I wake up every day at 5:00am for school. I am sleepy every single day during school and after school. But, as soon as the night falls, I don't want to sleep. I'm not sleepy anymore. But, when it's the weekend, I go to sleep at about 12:00am and I wake up at, like, 3:00pm. I need like a home-made remedy to sleep. PLEASE HURRY!
PS: No pills, please!

Answers:

yeah dont take sleeping pills they will mess up your REM sleep rhythm. Theres a few things you can do. Melatonin is something the body produces naturally to help you sleep. Drinking warm milk stimulates the production of this. You can also get them in little capsules at the pharmacy for like 5 bucks. They are really helpful and natural to your body, but dont take too much cause you dont want it to mess up your REM sleep either. In addition to that when you wake up surround yourself with the brightest lights you can find. Your retina takes in this information to mean ITS WAKE UP TIME and also tells your body IM STARTING NOW SO I SHOULD WINDE DOWN IN APPROX 14 HRS, in a really strong way. If you can RED bulbs are the best because morning light is usually red and when we all lived out in nature thats how we woke up.

Another very important thing you must do is fix your circadian rhythm. EASIER SAID THAN DONE! I know, you will probably need help from someone who can keep a close eye on you or a few weeks. What this means is that you need to set aprox 8 hrs a day for sleeping time. When its time to sleep you crawl into bed and lay there in the dark for as long as it takes. Eventually your body will learn to sleep at that time, but you must be patient. You must do this every single day for as long as it takes and persist, and NEVER deviate from your schedule, weekend or not. In addition to that -no- naps during the day either, you want to train your body to sleep at that time so your natural human rhythm goes back into sync with your body. best of luck!! like i said keep someone at your side to make sure you dont sleep durging the day. oh and also 5am is rly early! try to get up just before the crack of dawn, open the shades and watch the sun rise. Let your eyes take in all the light it can.

hmm just get in bed around every night at about 9:00 even if you don't feel like sleeping, and just lie in bed listening to music or something, or reading, idk; if you don't sleep within an hour, then get up and drink a glass of milk. Stay up for a few minutes, then go back to bed. You will eventually fall asleep, and it will get easier the more you practice.

years of sleepless nights
