Question: What calms an acidic stomach/what are the causes?
Pretty recently my stomach has been very acidic and I think is causing bad breath. Everything I do to fix the breath works for about 5 minutes. And I feel the acid in my throat mostly at night time. It started recently and my diet hasn't changed much, so I'm not sure of the causes. Please help?! Its an everyday thing and I want to start conversations with people but haven't been able to because I know my breath is horrible. I'm starting college in the fall and really need this fixed. Is there anything I can eat that helps calm it, or medicine? What are some things that cause this that I can stay away from?

Answers:

ACID. Yes, the answer is "ACID." Eating too many carbs and sugar cause an overgrowth of Candida albicans in most cases. We need Candida to help our bodies deal with heavy metals, but too much of it can create all kinds of problems. One of those problems is subduing the parietal cells in your stomach and causing poor utilization of HCL. When this happens, food does NOT break down, especially proteins, and LACTIC ACID forms creating the acid feeling and methane gas forms creating the bloated feeling and reflux due to the pressure building up from the gas. Does stress make it more painful? I have a condition, GERD. I don't know if that is what you have, so I can't recommend anything, but look it up online and check the symptoms. Stay away from spicy and acid foods. Hope you can get it under control soon.

To answer below mine, what is HCL? It sounds exactly what I need. My condition is made worse by stress. I take a prescription but it doesn't help much. Eating spicy and vinegary things hurt more.
