Why do some nurses look down on their nurses aids?!
Question: Why do some nurses look down on their nurses aids?
Nurses aids are the helping hands of the nurse. As an LPN, and RN student, I REALLY appreciate my aids and I try to help them out when I have time. So many nurses look down on their aids, but get upset when doctors look down on nursing. I have met so many nurses with attitude problems its almost embarrassing to be a nurse.
Don't you think we should all try to get along?
Aren't nurses supposed to be caring people?
Have you ever had a job where you felt unappreciated?

Answers:
Ego, pure & simple. It's bad because a lot of RNs I know started as NA's.
The GOOD RNs I know do work as a team with their NA's. Much like I try to do with the RNs.
From the housekeeper that keeps the room clean, to the surgeon that operated on the patient, you're spot on. We're a team. Don't lose that idea!
Good luck
