How can i quit smoking, living in a home of smokers?!

Question: How can i quit smoking, living in a home of smokers?
I'm 19, I've smoked since I was about 12-14, I've smoked the most in the past 2 years. Average of a pack a day or more. I need to quit & want to, I've read a bunch of online tips but they all say stay away from smokers/smoke..I can't really do that living here & I am home most of the time. I like to be home. Is they anything I can do?

Smoking is an obsession and an addiction. Being around 2nd hand smoke will make the addiction harder to beat, but the obsession is the hardest part. Try to replace the obsession with something else. Start a hobby, video games, baseball cards, fantasy football, exercise. The obsession is what you need to be worried about, the addiction will take care of itself.

Unfortunately, it seems your only escape from the smokers and their second hand smoke would be to move out to a place of your own. You may need to find a roommate to share expenses if need be. Be very careful doing this also! Make sure you find the right roommate to share an apartment. You've got to decide which is more important, staying at home and putting up with the second hand smoke, or improving your life/health by getting out.

Hey, giving up smoking is hard and often when pressurised by friends and family it can be harder. Anyone giving up needs to want to and then find a way to beat their personal addicition. There is help in the UK on the NHS but sometimes it can need more than just willpower.

Good luck

Try the nicotine patches or gum. Also just think about what it's doing to your lungs and your body everytime you reach for a cigarette. Try looking at some pictures of smokers lungs on the internet. It's not pretty and may be enough to put you off!

It is not going to be easy. But you can quit it just takes determination. Maybe you could ask your housemates to try to cut back smoking around you.

You can, but its not going to be easy, for sure. Not with other smokers in the house.. Try the patch
