Is it unhealthy to drink wine while you are on antibiotics?!

Question: Is it unhealthy to drink wine while you are on antibiotics?
I went to the doctor for a sore throat yesterday and they prescribed me antibiotics. I took the antibiotics yesterday and I already feel better. To celebrate, I want to hang by the pool and drink wine. Is it okay to mix the two or am I going to get sick?

they say you shouldnt because it will make you feel groggy but read the leaflet that comes with them to see what it says :)

It depends on the antibiotic. Do a search, type the name of your antibiotic, then look for interactions.
Also there should be this information on the leaflet in the pack.

"Alcohol doesn't diminish the effectiveness of most antibiotics. However, antibiotics and alcohol can cause similar side effects, such as stomach upset, dizziness and drowsiness. When you combine antibiotics and alcohol, these side effects may increase.

A few antibiotics — such as metronidazole (Flagyl), tinidazole (Tindamax) and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim) — should not be mixed with alcohol because this may result in a more severe reaction. Drinking any amount of alcohol with these medications can result in side effects such as flushing, headache, nausea and vomiting, and rapid heart rate."

First of all , getting over a throat infection isn't something to celebrate about so calm down. Secondly taking a glass of wine with pills is dangerous. If you weren't too busy hanging by the pool in your bikini you'd know that.

You probably shouldn't. And you need to take the antibiotics as prescribed and NOT miss a dose even if you do feel better.
