How to fix my messed up sleeping pattern?!

Question: How to fix my messed up sleeping pattern?
My sleeping pattern is really messed up, I swear I'm becoming nocturnal. I usually fall asleep at 5 or 6 in the morning and get up around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I'm at uni and its the norm to stay up really late. Sometimes I miss lectures because I get so tried and can not get myself out of bed. I've tried the thing where I go a day without no sleep, but I still find it hard to fall asleep. It takes me ages to get to sleep and I find myself tossing at turning. I can go to bed at 2 or 3 but it can still take me like 3 hours to get to sleep. Sometimes I think a lot and cant switch my mind off. I dont know what to do, I dont want to keep on missing lectures because I'm so tired. Is there any way I can change my sleeping pattern? How long will it take. I want to aim to fall asleep around one or two and wake up at 9 or 10 when I dont have early lectures. Please help, this is making me miserable.

I used to be like the movie "Fight Club" myself and averaged maybe 1 hour a sleep a night for I dont know how long. It did take its toll on me and broke me down. Here is what I did and still works to this day. It may take time but uses natural methods and psychology. The all natural sleep hormone "Melatonin" can be bought dirt cheap from any supplement store. I pop 2 of the 3mg tablets and that will help. To use psychology try to buy a few seasons of your favorite TV series. Watch them every night at bedtime. I have done this for so long that if even someone hums Andy Griffith tune I get sleepy. In fact....just mentioning it makes me want to go take a nap. Heehee
