Question: How much cough syrup would I take?
I have prescribed cough syrup, promethazine VC-Codeine, it has 7% alcohol right? How much of the cough syrup would I have to drink to blow a .02 on a breathalyzer?

I would have to know your weight for the calculation. Realistically you cannot drink enough to get legally drunk with the amount prescribed. The codeine however will give you quite a high with just a small amount of the cough syrup.

At 7% alcohol you would get drunk at about the same rate as drinking a beer. That means that you would be .08 with 12 oz in less than 1 hour. So if you divide that by 4 you will get your answer. 3 oz of medicine in less than an hour will put you at .02.
