Question: What is the difference between "local symptoms" and "particular symptoms"?
Local symptom: n a symptom limited to a specific body part, organ, or system.
Particular symptom: n a symptom related to a specific anatomical part.

I'm not sure I get the difference???? I'm not a student, I'm coming from a patients perspective.

Let, a local symptom is a symptom that would be related to an injury. If you had tendinitis of the wrist it would be a localized problem associated specifically to that tendon. If you had a back problem it would be associated with the nerve or nerves of that disc level.
A particular symptom would be associated with an anatomical part as you have stated. If you are having a heart problem the particular symptom would be related to you as a referred pain. The same would be true for a gall bladder or kidney. There are many times when the two symptoms overlaps thus causing the diagnostician to have to sort out the difference between the two.
