Is hearing loss likely from short term exposure to loud noise?!

Question: Is hearing loss likely from short term exposure to loud noise?
I had to use to headphones on a school thing and I didn't realise how loud they were until I took them off, and could hear them very clearly. Normally I listten to my ipod really low, I just didn't realise how loud the headphones plugged into this computer were, cause I used one program where the sound was really low, then changed to another and didn't realise it'd gone really high. I probably listened for 10-15 minutes max and it only played through my left ear, cause the headphones were broken. If I'm careful about noise exposure since, would any damage done be able to heal. I didn't experiance any ringing in my ears after it, so I don't think it was to bad. I normally listen to headphones really low, when I share them with people they normally can't even hear the music at the level I listen to it, so I'm kinda suprised I didn't notice how loud it was.
Anyways, my main point is that if you do mild damage to your ears, can it heal if you don't keep exposing them to loud noise.

Answers:

You most likely don't have damaged ear drums for the short time you were wearing them.
Im not saying that this can't happen to someone but in this case. Most likely not.
Long prolonged use of sounds over 85 decibels can cause hearing loss.
A one time deal such as in your case is highly unlikely.
Beware of the use of the i-pod. I know you said you keep it low but, remember, this is going directly into your ear and could damage them over a period of time.
Good Luck!

You get hearing loss over years of listening to loud noises, not from one time or even a week!

Common Sence

Hearing loss is an all too common problem in our society. Many years ago, hearing damage due to loud noises was rare. Today, modern factory noise, loud concerts, and exposure to music through earphones has caused an increase in hearing problems affecting all ages. Your hearing is too precious a thing to put at risk. Here is How To Protect Yourself From Hearing Loss.
If you are exposed to a loud environment at work or if you frequent loud entertainment venues, you may need to consider some type of over-the-ear or in-ear protection. In general, if you have to shout to talk to someone who is standing 3 feet away, you should protect your ears from possible damage.
