What's wrong with my stomach? Could it be lactose intolerance?!

Question: What's wrong with my stomach? Could it be lactose intolerance?
For the past two months, my stomach has been making really odd noises; it's grumbling and it sounds like i'm hungry or got an excess gas build up inside. It's at its worst at night, and no - I do wait hours before going to sleep after, before you say anything. I say that it's worst at night, because it starts to make noises when I lay down, or when i'm standing up and i've got my arms crossed over my chest/stomach. I think it's the pressure on my stomach.
Sometimes my stomach cramps up when I eat too much dairy food, I find. I used to think that it was because I possibly overate but it was never the case. My body feels really bloated and a bit gassy too - not flatulence per se, but more in terms of burping I guess.
I've been finding it difficult to swallow, - even drinks. I have to really force myself to swallow food, and sometimes its quite painful.
I've recently started eating more dairy products, my parent's have been buying lots of different foods such as cheesy pizzas and macaroni cheese. I had also - for some unknown reason - decided at the beginning of the year to switch from toast to cereals with milk to eat in the morning for breakfast. I dont know, lactose intolerance isn't exactly hereditary in my family so i'm not entirely convinced that I could have that.
What do you think is wrong with me, and what should I do about this?

It could be a wheat allergy, gluten allergy, or lactose. It's impossible to know without taking a test or just going a few days without certain foods to see if you feel better.
It could be IBS, although finding it difficult to swallow and having pain, sounds more like acid reflux, which I have (as well as IBS) and means that the stomach acid is coming back up into your esophagus and burning it.

If you want to have a look at the IBS site myself and a couple of other people run, there are articles on many of these possibilities, including GERD and intolerances, gas and pain, and also podcasts.

We have about 300 pages up at the moment, and you can also contact me via the website.

Well, is it easy for you to use the toilet? If it isn't you should either eat some things like activia and fiber foods. If that doesn't work go and see a doctor.

The easiest way to find out is stop eating any dairy products for 2 weeks..If the symptoms go away I would say u are more than likely lactose intolerant. To be sure it's not just that you are eating TOO much dairy, one day have dairy with one meal..if the symptoms come back then you have your answer..If the symptoms persist even after you quit dairy for 2 weeks you need to be seen by a .Gastroentrologist
