A question for the nurses.?!

Question: A question for the nurses.?
ok, so heres the deal. all my life ive wanted to be a nurse. now im finally starting to pursue it. this summer i planned on taking a cna course, and then next year do an apprenticeship. heres the deal. i was born with one arm, and on my left side only have until the elbow. when i applied i didnt think of disclosing it because i never really thought of it as a disability. but then i got to thinking and asked somebody about it. they finally got back to me and didnt sound too faithful in me doing the course. they obviously cannot deny me from taking the course, but they can keep me from passing. i feel i would be able to do everything. the main concern right now is putting on a pair of sterle gloves. im feeling pretty discouraged like maybe i wont have what it takes to be a nurse. any opinions?

I've been a Registered Nurse since 1984 and there was one nurse I worked with who had the challenge of working with only one hand. The other hand and half of her lower arm were gone.
I never asked what happened or if she was born that way. It didn't keep her from doing anything that any other of us did at work. And she had the most optimistic outlook on life. Really, such a pleasure to work with.
But I'm unsure about the specifics nowadays on getting into nursing school. I assume they can't discriminate. As long as you can perform the tasks, learn the pathophysiology involved in the science of nursing, and pass the boards, I don't see how they can tell you can't be a nurse.

It's a wonderful profession! Best of luck to you!

fight for his ideals, never give up.
