So he's 18 and you're a handful of years younger? So...all of those "bad habits" are illegal for you then. Simple, don't drink around him...better yet, don't drink. God made us stupid enough, no need to start killing more brain cells so young. And smoking? I suppose there is a drunk guy somewhere who thinks chicks with breath that smells like an ashtray is sexy...yeah right. Relax, you can't "help" anyone quit, they have to do it on their own.
If your not ready, just support his decsion to do so. be respestful of his decision and dont do it in front of him.

Over 300 people die every day from smoking, and the average age gets lower every year. In my hospital, we just diagnosed a 21 year old college student with stage 4 lung cancer. She kept saying "I am too young to die". We all agree, but she will be gone within 3 months. She started smoking at 14, and seven years later, she will not graduate from college, get married, or have kids. Now she is in hospice care at home, saying good bye to everyone before she goes down for the big dirt nap.
Alcohol is more abused than all other drugs combined.
Having your jaw removed due to a tumor is not hot. Kissing an ashtray is not hot, smelling like crap is not hot. Getting drunk and being a jerk is not cool.
If you smoke half a pack a day, and quit, the money you save could give you a free vacation to Hawaii once a year.
