is it weird to not be comfortable eating in front of certain people?!

Question: Is it weird to not be comfortable eating in front of certain people?
my boyfriends parents asked me to go out to dinner with them tonight so that they can meet me but ever since i was a little kid i've never liked to eat in front of people unless its like my family or my girlfriends i dont know what to say and i dont know if i have some sorta of problem or not.... i dont even really eat in front of my boyfriend and we have been dating for three months.

No, not at all! My friend Ally is like that too, and so is my brother.

no espcially if the ppl u r eating with r ones u dont know really well. it just feels really awkward so u gotta order something simple like a small sandwich or something bite sized where u wont feel like theres gonna be a mess when u try to eat it. dont order anything like bbq chicken or ant thing mesy that u have to pick up w/ your hands. def. no spaghetti or seafood that requires lots of handling & mess like crab legs, etc.

i hate eating in front of unfamiliar ppl too, cuz they tend to always happen to ask questions rite when i have a forkfull of food in my mouth. but when i dont have food in my mouth then NOBODY ASKS ME STUFF OR WANTD 2 TALK its like really bad timing. its like they wait till i take a bite of food THEN THEY WANT TO CONVERSATE! lol---its frustrating & i cant reallly enjoy the meal & cant wait till its over. so now i stick to food thats simple that i can handle with qiuck bites.

I use to feel that way too around strangers you just feel embarrass I'm not sure why... but don't feel embarrass just eat and try not to even think about them being there.
