How to get rid of body odor problem?!

Question: How to get rid of body odor problem?
First off, I would like to say that I consider myself a very clean person. I usually take showers one a day, although I do occasionally take up to two because it gets very hot where I live.

Anyways, the other day, I was told that I smelled like trash and poo by someone whom I've known for quite a while now. Because I've known this person for so long, I really want to solve this problem, for the sake of this person, but I honestly don't know how.... Perhaps you could help me know what I'm doing wrong.

I've listed some potential problems which could have caused the problem below:

1) I use bar soap and then use the loofah to spread it on my body. Do you think using a washcloth would be better?
2) I rarely excercise (perhaps that is what is causing the body odor?)....but I've known some people who haven't exercised for a LONG time, and yet they have no body odor.....
3) I keep my dirty clothes in a hamper in my room since I have no where else to leave it in my small apartment. Do you think the smell from the hamper could leak into my bed and my skin when I'm sleeping?
4) I take morning showers because I feel more refreshed going to work int he morning.
5) I have ingrained dirt on my butt because I used to not scrub that part of my body, but as of last year, I've started to.

Please help with this problem and please answer with respect. This is a serious problem and I want to be rid of it.

Thank you

Answers:

Well, you should definitely continue to scrub your butt. Lol.
Do you not use deodorant/cologne etc?
Use some body scents, and I'd suggest not using bars of soap in the shower, other than products like Lush.
You should use actual body wash. Pomegranate is a great smell for both girls as well as guys. Let it sit on your skin for a minute before rinsing it.
I assume you're male, so I can suggest shaving your pits. Odor likes to cling to whatever it can. Also much easier to clean this way. Although I'm sure if I were a guy, I wouldn't go so low as to shaving my man hair.
If you have foot odor problems, soak them in vinegar each night.
I highly doubt your lack of exercise is causing any stink. But you never know, so there ya go. Hit the gym; see what happens.
Clean your bed sheets/blankets/pillow cases at least once a month or better yet - every 2 weeks.
There are a LOT of ridiculously strong smelling oils you can buy from places like Saje. I use lavender, I only need one drop to spread around my throat and chest and I still feel too fragrant.
They're expensive, but they last forever if you're not wasting the contents.
There is a chance that the stench of your dirty laundry is contributing to your BO. Keep them on/around the washer area or in a designated drawer?
Do you sweat more than you think you should? You can get some sweat glands removed by laser. My aunt did it, there were no issues.
Mainly though, you need to be wearing scents and especially deodorant.
Hopefully someone who knows what actually causes mysterious body odor will respond.

personal experience with keeping the stench away
