Its a piece of pi**ss honestly there isn't much chance of failing if you have common sense. A lot of the work is general knowledge for those with common sense. You will be coached through everything you need to know. Its just the basics in first aid and health care

i am asuming St. Johns is some type of hospital based abulance. I am an EMT- Emergency Medical Technician, which is all I have heard of being on an ambulance, no lesser certs, its usually EMTs EMT-i and EMT-P (paramedic). For, I believe, every state what you need to do is Take a First Responder class (that is the title) and then take EMT-Basic. Both of which are most likley offered at a community college nearby in the EMS (emergency medical services department). From those classes and taking your State and National exams you will be a Certified EMT, from being in class for two semesters of about 10-12 credit hours a week. Now asuming the company you are talking about IS hospital based, you would most likely be running transports from one hospital to another. And asuming you are an addrenaline junkie like myself and everyone else in the bussiness you are looking to join a 911 service! Your state health dept usually has a complete list of both 911 services and transport agencies in you state, so try google-ing your state and abulance service and you will find a link buried somewhere in there and will be able to start searching for who to work for.

All that aside its a great choice, I love it, will not do anything else for the rest of my life, I would do it for free, and if you're heart is with this profession you will love it too just like everyone else. If you need help finding more info about how to do this in your state or where to find classes employer anything feel free to pm me i would love to help. good luck.
