A friend poured bleach on cat urine (which contains ammonia!)?!

Question: A friend poured bleach on cat urine (which contains ammonia!)?
Ok so a friend of mine just poured bleach on her bathroom floor because the cat peed all over it and she couldn't get rid of the scent. Well, according to her facebook post, the floor started bubbling and created an awful smell. I'm not sure how long she has been exposed to it but she said she is starting to get a headache. I told her to get out of the house and call the poison control center but I think she is more concerned about getting the deadly mixture out of her bathroom. Is there anything she can do to neutralize it? What should she do?

God i just hope the place doesn't blow ....jk..but try some water to weaken it

But your not supposed to just pour bleach on pee...At least wipe it up first

Your friend did not create mustard gas (nitrogen mustard). Mammal urine does not contain any ammonia contrary to popular belief, it contains urea which mammal's livers create by purifying ammonia. Even if the cat did have ammonia in it's urine due to hepatic failure, it wouldn't have created enough mustard gas to harm her and her cats. She might have a headache due to the bleach fumes and bleach reacts with tons of stuff and bubbles, it's a potent oxidizing agent. She's fine.

too much organic chemistry to not ask stupid questions like this.

Tell her to open the windows and get herself and her cats out of her house right away. Mixing bleach and ammonia is toxic and can be deadly. Have her call poison control immediately for advice.
