Phobia of vomiting? Panic-attacks lead to mid-night sickness?!

Question: Phobia of vomiting? Panic-attacks lead to mid-night sickness?
So, long story short, I'm afraid of camping. I had a 'scarring', if you will, experience when I was eight at a camp, where a cabin member stopped breathing in the night (she was absolutely fine in the end, don't worry) and a helicopter had to emergency land outside my window. I was terrified.

Now, whenever I am in a similar environment, I have a semi-panic attack before I go to sleep. If I finally do fall asleep, I will WITHOUT FAIL, every time, wake up in a cold sweat and procede to throw up. Recently, it's spread. If my heart races before I go to bed (i.e. I'm scared of something), I'll also wake up and need to throw up. It's as though I'm SO afraid, I feel the need to throw up my fear.

I'm asking for two reasons:
1) I'm only 17, and I plan to travel to crazy places in my life, and I can't be throwing up everywhere. A trip I took last summer was nearly ruined by my nightly sickness.
2). I'm going somewhere this summer that involves sleeping in huts. I know, it's not ideal for a person like me, but I feel like it will pressure me to grow up and get over it.

Any suggestions? I've considered taking anti-anxiety pills.

Sleeping medication doesn't work, by the way. Last time I feared it would happen, I took two advil PMs, and couldn't fall asleep for THREE HOURS. I don't know if you've ever taken Advil PM... but i was going insane after that long.

Disclaimer: This ONLY happens to me about twice a year, so I'm not a total freak. Though it only happens rarely, it's bad enough that I desperately want to fix it.

drink nyquil pm, a good amount too. but not enough for you to die.

Have you been examined by a doctor to check for any other possible cause? It's possible that it is not happening because of your trauma but you might a medical reason for the vomitting. Get checked out by a doctor if you can.

Now if it psychological then it needs to be treated like any other phobia. You need to expose yourself to what you fear most and learn to tolerate it by using relaxation techniques..like deep breathing and other learnt coping strategies. A therapist could help you heaps with this.

Perhaps if you cannot see a therapist then ask a friend to stay with you overnight in a tent in your backyard and practice with her. Know that you are safe and tell your parents what you doing.
