Why does a nose look flatter a break?!

Question: Why does a nose look flatter a break?

Provided the nose still looks straight does anyone know what features cause this change to the shape of the nose i.e changes at the bridge, changes to the cartilage.

Think about it Briant. If your nose gets broken, the cartilage gets flattened.
