how much of a garlic clove do i need to eat to be effective?!


Question: How much of a garlic clove do i need to eat to be effective?
I am looking at using it to help keep me healthy, because I work as a Merchant Marine, and sometimes days go on more than 24 hours, and I can get sick when that happens.

I would eat a well-balanced diet, whole grains, lot's of quality carbs, some good lean protein and eats lots of fruits and veggies.

Try to stay away from high fat & sugar content foods which will just leave you energy-less when it comes to crunch time.

Drink lots of juice & water. Avoid coffee, tea and sodas which will dehydrate you (esp. if you're on deck in the sun or down in the engine room).

Try to exercise 30 mins everyday (if you're shipping deep-sea there should be a decent gym on-board) and get as much sleep as needed, as close to 8 hours in a 24 hour period as possible.

Take vitamins and supplements such as garlic as needed, daily would work just fine. I would eat as much garlic as possible if you think it's helping. Not like anybody cares about bad breath while out at sea.

Unless you stand a wheel watch and the old man is nearby...grab some breath mints!

BTW, Are you working on-board US flagged ships or foreign flagged vessels and in what capacity?

I know in the USMM the USCG doesn't allow more than 12 hours of work in ANY 24 hour period unless there is an emergency.

I am also a mariner!
