Does this sound like the flu?!

Question: Does this sound like the flu?
On Saturday I woke up really sick. Had a fever, felt sick to my stomach, and I got lightheaded and dizzy when I stood. I took alka-seltzer and a nap and felt a little better, but a few hours later I started getting sick again and my fever started climbing. I'm still sick today. My fever has dropped a few degrees, but I can't stand for more than a few moments before I start getting extremely light headed and start feeling like I'm gonna be sick. I have to sit down and even then I still feel nauseous and a bit light headed/dizzy. Is this the flu??

Answers:

Generally speaking, if you have symptoms above the neck, it is likely a cold. Symptoms below the neck are indicative of the flu.

What you are describing aren't common for either though. You left out a few key points, such as how high your fever was / is.

However, if you are feeling nauseous and light-headed with a decent fever for three days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday), you really should consider seeing a medical professional as soon as possible. I'm not a doctor, but even if I were, it would be difficult to diagnose you via computer, and your issues could be problematic.

You really should see someone soon, just in case it is something serious.
