Why did the cigar make me sick to the core?!

Question: Why did the cigar make me sick to the core?
So I don't smoke too often, and when I do, I smoke cigars just for the mood. I tend to not inhale either; I like the taste and smell fo cigars and while I cna inhale I have always disliked the choked up feeling I get from both cigerettes and cigars, I just dont' like inhaling.

However I've smoked cigars for many years on and off, usually just cheap off the shelf ones. Recently though I felt like getting a proper expensive one, so I bought one that was quite expensive from an offlincence, I think it was a Romeo y Julieta. Anyway I was in my office smoking away, with the door shut and the windows shut, probably not a good idea.

The room filled up after a while... And I started to go manic. I mean, really manic. I've neve rbeen high on anything before but that's the only way I can describe the way I was feeling smoking that thing. I started laughing uncontrollably at one point, and my legs went all wobbly. Then, after about twenty minutes ofpuffing away on this thing I started feeling sick. Then ill. Then I felt like I was going to die.

I felt so ill and nauseous that I had to go lie down and i must have been in bed for an hour before I started feeling better.

What the hell happened to me? Since when did cigars do THAT?

Answers:

I am a pretty avid cigar smoker. Decent hand made cigars are made of higher quality tobacco with a lot more nicotine than a convienence store cheapie. The combination of essentially a nicotine overdose and possible lowering of oxygen levels in the room easily explain your symptoms. I gave a regular pipe tobacco smoker and nice cigar and he sucked it down in 20 minutes (took me over an hour) and he started sweating and vomited five times. Your body has to build a tolerance to that much nicotine. And Romeo y Julieta are normally milder cigars.

Also, cigars are not meant to be inhaled. The lining of your cheeks and gums are super thin and holding the smoke in your mouth for a few seconds gets all the nicotine you could ever want. No reason to scorch your throat and lungs. I saw that one person commented that a cigar is not meant to be smoked in one sitting...that is total garbage. Just don't suck down a cigar that should take upwards of an hour to smoke in 20 minutes...even a regular smoker could get a bit queasy from that and a novice would get extremely sick.

What swanny said - it is the nicotine that made you ill. And definitely don't "hotbox" - cigars should be puffed once every 30-60 seconds. And they are not meant to be inhaled.

One tip if that happens again is to swallow a spoonful or two of sugar. For lack of a better explanantion, it helps to metabolize the nicotine in your system

you whitied. haha

basically the giddiness is sign your brain is starting to get confused (with the smoke) and the wobbily and sickness is the nicotine overload. You lower your blood pressure which causes dizziness and then sickness

Basically a hit that went too far - a lot of dope smokers who smoke too much get that kind of feeling, turn pure white and vom.

Well First off your not supposed to smoke a whole cigar in one time, second like you say you were trapped and the cigar smoke sucked most of the oxegen out of the room causeing less blood to get to your brain. you really shold keep somthing open when smoking

Good cigars contain large amounts of real nicotine. Nicotine is an amphetamine. Nicotine is known to have psychoactive effects.

Nicotine.

Just don't do it like that again. Smoking is bad for you anyway.
