I started Prozac ..help please?!

Six to eight weeks. It won't be very dramatic. You'll barely realize it's working.

Once you're on Prozac do not stop or reduce your dosage without your doctors permission. I was on Prozac for ten years. When I tried to stop taking it, I fell into a depression so severe I had to be hospitalized in a mental hospital. I ended up having to give up my job. It was over a year before I felt relatively normal again even though I started taking Prozac again. I am now on disability retirement with no prospect of ever being able to go back to work.

Prozac gave me terrible insomnia, that never went away even after months of use. It worked in the aspect that it numbed the bad stuff, but it made it a lot harder to be empathetic or happy at the same time. I felt like a zombie. After I quit, I stated to realize life in a new perspective, with faith and courage (as cliche as it gets, I know). It does work differently for everyone however, so give it time and patience. Hope for the best!

Side effects can begin at any time. You should have been given a piece of paper when you got your prescription, listing all of the possible side effects.
You can contact your doctor and tell him/her about it, if it's really bad.
