Tips to get over needle phobia?!

Question: Tips to get over needle phobia?
Please help im terrified! Particularly of bloodwork

Answers:

The first thing I would ask for is for them to use a 'butterfly' needle, they are much smaller and do not hurt as bad, secondly tell them of your fears and keep your head turned away as the poke you.

A lot of places that draw blood will put on a topical solution to numb your skin somewhat so that you do not feel the pain.

Did you know though that you could just place a rubber band on your wrist and just as they are about to stick you with the needle, snap the rubber band. Your brain will react to that small amount of pain and distract you from what is happening at the moment.

I am terrified of needles too. I just recently had to get an MRI with contrast injected into my hip, and i was absolutely terrified. What i did and always do is, cover my eyes or turn my head away, clench my fists and just take deep breaths until its over. Also, i always ask for the baby needle or the "butterfly" needle. I hardly feel it.
The worst part, is what you make it out to be. For my MRI, i built it up in my head to be more than it was. Just relax, it really wont be as bad as you think.

ME TOO ok just try to be close to them have them in you enviorment and soon you will get used to them--is it the pain is its the pain idk but just get used to the needle and soon you wont realize its there u know?
