Did the car accident cause permanent brain damage or will I recover?!

Question: Did the car accident cause permanent brain damage or will I recover?
I was in a car accident 3 days ago and suffered a head injury; whiplash / concussion more specifically. I hit the back of my head twice against the seat, once with my head turned, another while I was looking straight forward. I was pushed about a mile going 50MPH by a car behind me, he was having a seizure. I then drove off into a sidewalk, crashed into a pole, and stopped the car while the man having a seizure flipped over and went into the woods.
Since the accident I cannot think straight. I have trouble holding onto things (I was told this was because of the neck injury/ muscles). I am in college and when I study I find it very difficult to do so whereas before it was easy. I am very concerned that I have permanent brain damage and I hate having to function this way. I also forget a lot and am overall confused very frequently.
I was taken to the hospital via ambulance immediately at the scene as have since followed up with my doctor. While I have sustained minor injuries, I am otherwise ok.
How do I know if I have permanent brain damage or will these feelings go away soon

Answers:

YEAH I would be concerned too !

did they do a CAT scan ? And when you follow up with your dr, what does he say ?

you have had a brain injury and your brain needs time to recover. you should be spending most of your time in a quiet, dark room, resting. I am surprised your dr has not told you this !
You should nto be studying ! Your brain is injured and you are asking it to do things it cant !

if you had an injured leg, you wouldnt try running would you ?
iT IS HARD TO BELIEVE that you were in this major accident with a concussion and they didnt bother to check your brain with a CAT scan. That is bad medicine.
If I were you, I'd call my dr today and tell him your concerns and ask why they havent done a CAT scan
follow up with a neurologist

You wont really know for certain if you will have permanant or persistent problems, unless you follow up with medical assistance. You failed to mention if the ER or your doctor did or ordered a MRI and or ex-rays of the affected areas. Notably a crevical, and spinal(neck and back). If they have not done so, I would advise you to request that it be done. Reason: If you have sustained a neckand or back injury and have a cracked vertabre or ruptured disc it can and will cause severe problems for you many years down the road, if not treated immediatly. best of luck on your recovery, and take it slow and easy for awhile.

personal experience with cervical neck fracture surgery, ruptured disks and spinal cord damage.
