Needing an MRI and I have piercings to take out for it and I need to know what w!
Question: Needing an MRI and I have piercings to take out for it and I need to know what will close?
Also, if it is possible, can I wear plastic?
Answers:
I've had an MRI, EEG, X-Rays, Ultrasounds... probably the whole lot and I wanted to let you know that if you have had the piercings in for a while, then they won't shut. I got my nose pierced when I was 15 and I pierced my top ear that same year and because they have been in for ages, they didn't close when I had the tests.
I have a feeling that the piercing you got done 3 weeks ago may close, but if it does it is simple and easy to stick a pin in it to re-open the hole. I'm not sure if you can wear plastic, but it's not the end of the world if your piercings do close... Just re-pierce them with a pin..
All the best
Yes you can buy plastic retainers for all of the facial piercings. Since they are still pretty new, I would definitely go back to the piercer and have them put the retainers in for you. Most reputable places will care for the lifetime of the piercing. But I've used plastic for MRIs before and it's no problem as long as it's not metal.
You will only need to have them out during the exam so I cant imagine they will close in the one hour (that is just an assumption based on the typical healing process of the body.
The mri will cauterize them shut.
you only need to take them out before you go in the xray room and you can put them on when you come out
