Is it okay to put ice on a new piercing?!
Question: Is it okay to put ice on a new piercing?
I just got spiderbites yesterday and my lip is swollen and tender. Is it okay if i ice it to make the swelling go down?
Answers:
Yes it is ok, in fact it is recommended. However, I suggest placing a thin rag between the ice and your skin to ensure you don't get a "frostbite" from the ice. Good luck, get better.
Also make sure you don't put really cold ice directly on metal piercings they may stick together.
An icepack under a towel might be a better answer. Don't forget to follow proper oral piercing instructions!
"For the inside of an oral piercing the APP recommends rinsing the mouth with an antimicrobial or antibacterial alcohol-free mouth rinse or standard saline solution 4-5 times a day "for 30 to 60 seconds after meals and at bedtime during the entire healing period." "
