Is their any chance of survival for a radiation sickness?!

Question: Is their any chance of survival for a radiation sickness?
I was reading on gizmodo about how bad it is in japan my question is, is their any chance to survive after such high radiation doses have been absorbed by the human body?

Answers:

For sure if you get medical treatment as soon as possible. I know that some of the workers are starting to get sick at the power pant in japan, and they have made full recoveries at the hospital.

Your guaranteed to survive until death. (joking)
For some forms of radiation poisoning they have help. But a high enough dose is incurable. What radiation does is destroys your DNA. Damaged DNA can continue to replicate and this causes cancer, which isn't always curable either.

I think Glutathione is an alternative treatment for radiation sickness. Glutathione can neutralize hydroxyradical created in the body due to exposure to radiation.

The vast majority of people in Japan haven't had enough radiation to get anywhere close to radiation sickness. Their only worry would be a slightly elevated risk of cancer.

Yes, and the Japanese disaster doesn't involve fatal doses.

Depends on the dosage but many Japanese did after the H-bombs of WWII.
