Does popcorn at night cause nighttime indigestion?!

Question: Does popcorn at night cause nighttime indigestion?
I eat popcorn about 20-30 minutes before bed, and then I get indigestion while in bed. Do you think the popcorn causes it?

Answers:

You shouldn't anything within 4 hours of going to bed.

But even more important, you should drink 16 oz of water and eat a pinch (1/8 tsp) of salt 30 minutes before eating and again 2 - 2 1/2 hours after eating to avoid indigestion.

You really shouldn't eat anything that close to going to bed. You should not eat for a couple of hours before bed. When you are asleep your body is trying to rest. You can't rest properly if your body is busy digesting food. If you are really hungry drink some milk; it has protein and sugar so it should satisfy without disturbing your sleep.

Unless you eat dry-popped popcorn, expect to get some oil from the popcorn, especially if microwave-popped popcorn. I cannot not eat microwave-popped popcorn because it causes heartburn and indigestion. Some brands of popcorn use a different oil for its popcorn, so investigate.
