For people who have autism?!

Question: For people who have autism?
I am a sixteen year old boy with autism. Oddly enough for some reason, I haven't shown any signs of it until my preteens. Even though I talk SOMETIMES and do sports and stuff in school, it really ****es me off because I want to talk and socialize like everyone else. I do not want to miss out on things because I am too affraid to socialize.

so what I am asking is

I want some advice from people who actually have autism (or at least know where I'm coming from)and fight it just like me, so they can actually have fun in life. What do you do? How do you cope with it? Do you take any special medications?

Answers:

hi, I don't actually have autism, but my brother has a pretty severe case of it. It's pretty sad, actually. I would say the biggest thing is to be confident in yourself and love/appreciate yourself. Don't ever let any kids at school make you feel bad about yourself or anything like that. It may feel at times like you don't fit in, but you are just a person like everybody else. In the end, life is all the same.

I don't really know the names of any medications in particular or anything, but let me tell you, my brother takes like 20 different medications and there is not a dramatic change. Sometimes I think that all the chemicals in the medicines actually make it worse. The one thing I can say though is that you should definitely be on a gluten free diet. This is because something in the gluten activates your autism more or something like that, I don't really know the details. But that is what all the doctors and autism specialists have told us. Good luck :)

I am autistic myself, 32 years old and I do take an anti-depressant called Effexor, and well I do like to go to public events like concerts and political events, even though it took a bit to get me to go for going places, as I use to wanna stay home a lot.
