did i have an anxiety attack?!

Question: Did i have an anxiety attack?
ok so i had the flu a month ago and i missed 5 days of school. it's been extremely hard to make up everything for all seven classes. my grades have taken a dip and i've been really stressed out about bringing them back up. i've been so stressed out that i missed my period this month....i noticed(online) that i have an incomplete quiz for science that i haven't made up from a month ago, that is automatically a zero.

i went to talk to my teacher and she says it's too late and that i can't do any extra-credit assignments. i left but decided to go back and further explain(she didn't know any of the details).

i couldn't even talk. i was hyperventilating and crying. the only full sentence i could make out was "im sorry, i cant express myself" when i was freaking out she gave me look as if i was crazy. she made some inquiry about how theres probably a bigger problem than just the quiz. She gave me her email so i could clearly express what i was trying to say.

now my teacher probably thinks i have problems at home, but she'll just find out im a freak and won't let me make up the quiz.

I have no idea what to do...im really embarrassed....
what should i do if it happens again?
was it an anxiety attack or something else?
what am i supposed to tell my teacher?

Answers:

Hey there, sorry you haven't been feeling well. It makes sense that you fell behind, it's only natural when we're not feeling well to not perform optimally in school. It's important for you first to speak with your teachers and explain to them that you have been ill and want to make up any work you missed, and that you care about the grades and the classes.

As for the attack, it was probably brought on by the stress of the moment. As a victim of anxiety attacks, it often does frighten the people around you, who don't know how to handle the situation or what to do. It's important to take deep breaths when you find yourself losing control. Know that you can control the attacks and prevent them from happening by taking a second to calm yourself down. Try counting to ten, focusing on every breath as it goes in or out. This is a meditation practice and has been known to reduce anxiety, anger, stress, and panic.

As for your teacher, try explaining the situation to her, about how you have been sick and really care about doing well in the class. She is obligated to help you if there has been a medical issue. See your doctor for a note if the problem persists.

I hope this helps!

Anxiety Attack is normal sometimes in life, we face diffucult problems.
