how do i become a Morning Person?!

Question: How do i become a Morning Person?
hi. i've always been a sleepy head. i wake up late always. Fortunately i had a job that starts at 10am and ends at 5 pm and the office was close by so i used to get up at 9.30 am and run to work. i don’t work now and its worse. hmm.. i want to learn to get up early irrespective of what you have to do in the day. i don’t sleep very late. usually about 12 pm latest. i just love to snooze. but i wake up when i have to go on a trip or have an appointment, but I am not a morning person. well how to i learn to be a 'rise and shine!' morning person? I just wish I could. I keep a resolution every night but in the morning when the alarm goes I just shut it and cuddle up in my pillow (my husband has given up and makes his own breakfast and goes to work)

Answers:

Get an alarm clock, and set it for a time that you think is reasonable. You have to be honest with yourself - its easier to start small and work your way up. Set it a few minutes earlier each day until you can start to wake up at the time that you would prefer to. Its hard when you first start, so you just have to stick it out. When you wake up, DON'T HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON AND THEN CONTINUE SLEEPING! Try to roll out of bed and get to the bathroom. Splash cold water on your face and then go out for a run. I find it helps. After a couple of weeks, you'll find that you start waking up at the same time everyday without the need for an alarm :D

Personal Experience

(1)You could set an alarm to wake you up at say 10am at first during a full week. Then set it for 9am and so on and so forth until you get used to it. When you wake up make sure you do an activity of sorts as soon as possible. You could clean your house or work on something you've been dieing to do.
(2)Also, find out how many hours your body likes sleeping. The hours that makes you feel the most energized when waking up will tell you your sleeping pattern and that may help you wake up without needing an alarm.
(3)Monitor what time you eat. If you eat late that will really change your digestive patterns. Eating at a decent time and stopping yourself from eating after a certain time period will make you feel less sick when you wake in the morning and will make it easier to fall asleep earlier.

Now, I know people who CAN wake up early but they aren't morning people because A.) they need coffee/caffeine or B.)They feel sick to their stomachs and not in the mood for food. or C.) they rely on an alarm. Most morning people wake up seem like they're high on caffeine, despite drinking nothing, and are all smiley, sometimes, and ready to go. If we set an alarm we might wake up an hour to a half hour before it goes off. I don't know if it's possible to achieve this without having it already, but you can try. Good luck.
