Is it this girls own fault that she's in the hospital?!

Question: Is it this girls own fault that she's in the hospital?
I have a friend who's in the hospital. Its because if an allergic reaction to medication. Here's the thing though, she'd been taking it for ten days and been feeling progressively worse each day. It was only on the tenth day that it was bad enough for her to go to the hospital. So, was it her own fault for not calling her doctor sooner? Since it was gradual for the ten days, by the fifth day she must have been feeling pretty bad, and certainly by the ninth day she must have known something was wrong. But she didn't stop taking the meds. So, is it her own fault that she's in the hospital?

Answers:

haha yes, even if it was instructed by a doctor or something, she should use common sense and physical awareness and at the very least call in before it got bad to see what she should do instead

Knowing when to call a doctor is difficult, and you don't know what she was thinking, or at what point it was "bad enough" in her mind to call a doctor. She might not have made the connection between the medicine and her symptoms, or thought she would wait it out, since it might be better the next day. Some people avoid going to doctors for various reasons, which you don't know. My question to you is: what is it so important that you blame her? She's sick, and if you're really a friend, you should be more concerned about her, and not so eager to place blame.

No.Your friend is in the hospital because she is sick/ill from the side effect of the medication her doctor gave her,and the illness that she had from the very beginning. Not everyone knows what possible side effects their going to have,or even if they are allergic to their own medications(prescribed or over the counter). This happens more than anyone might think, and many people die every year from allergic reactions to their own medications. You should be thankful that your friend is ok now,and she was able to seek the medical attention she needed.
I'm curious to know...does your friend know that your actually placing the blame on her...instead of actually being a real friend, and supporting her, helping her get through this.I doubt that.
I wish your friend all the best, and a speedy recovery as well!
