Question: Are you aloud to sit in and hold someones hand when they get there Tonsils removed?
Answers:

nope. But they knock you out to have the procedure, and if you tell them that the patient is nervous they will give you some liquid valum to calm him/her down. It'll be fine.

I had mine done, and the last thing I remember was my mom saying "oh, there's the doctor!" next thing I know I'm waking up looking at a Nemo light cover... try THAT when you're stoned (ty valum xD) and waking up from surgery!

No. She'll be knocked out and won't know if you're there or not, but the operating staff will (you'll be in their way and a risk factor they'd rather not deal with - you might pass out and they have to tend you or you could pass on germs that could cause infection to the patient).
